The Temple of the Reclining (Wat Pho) Buddha is a Buddhist temple in Phra Nakhon district, located in the Rattanakosin district directly adjacent to the Grand Palace. It's the largest temple in Bangkok and famed for its huge and majestic reclining Buddha measured 46 metres long and covered in gold leaf. Remarkable are also the feet of the Buddha statue, featuring mother-of-pearl inlay drawings of the 108 auspicious characteristics of the Buddha. Wat Pho was built as a restoration of an earlier temple on the same site in the end of 18th.
Wat Pho contains close to a hundred pagodas. They have different styles and dimensions. Besides Thai style, some pagodas are in Cambodian style and Chinese style. Wat Pho is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage. The site was a center of education for traditional Thai medicine and statues were created showing yoga positions.
