Activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina: The country is situated in the heart of the Balkan Peninsula in southeastern Europe. It shares borders with Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro. Bosnia and Herzegovina, an ancient crossroads of civilization, a boundary between Western Roman Empire and Byzantium, was populated by Slavic tribes in the VII th century. Same is today – it is a place of intersect of religions, cultures and wars. Despite the fact that the country's tourist infrastructure has been destroyed during the war and is only now starts to revive, the country is rich in a large number of architectural monuments, both Byzantine and Ottoman periods. In Sarajevo, the capital, even after the war, have preserved numerous masterpieces of Ottoman architecture: the Emperor's Mosque (XVI cent.), Gazi Husrev-beg's Mosque (XV cent.), Ali Pasha's Mosque (1560-1561), Bascarsija tower (XV century), Shopping center Brus-Bezistan. As well as the Orthodox Church of Saints Michael and Gabriel (1478-1539) and the Church of the Holy Virgin (1863-1868), and several Catholic churches. Since the country is mountainous, there are also great possibilities for sports and tourism.
