Autumn beer festival - Oktoberfest is traditionally held in Munich for two centuries. In 1810, when Ludwig I married a Saxon princess Therese, on the meadow, at the city gates of Munich, was arranged a general holiday festivities with races and free beer. After that, Ludwig ordered to hold a beer festival every year. The Munichites supported the idea, and a meadow gained the name of Teresen. Every year the Oktoberfest festival is opened on the third Saturday of September at 11 o’clock, and it finished only in the middle of autumn. By tradition, exactly fourteen festival tents are placed, each of which can accommodate more than 10 thousand people. Millions of people from around the world come to the festival annually.
