TOUNGE AND CHEEK OPENS ON SOUTH BEACH – The new 150-seat restaurant owned by Chef Jamie DeRosa and Michael Reginbogin promises to be much more than just a foodie haven. This neighborhood place has personality, charm and culinary temptations. Located in South Beach’s more residential “South of Fifth” neighborhood on South Beach, Tongue & Cheek is an approachable, ingredient-driven, American fare restaurant with just the right amount of whimsy. The menu is diverse without being unwieldy or unfocused. Much like the “snack bar” that welcomes guests as they enter, the Snacks section of the menu includes house-made rye crackers with country ham and cheddar pimento cheese – a luscious Southern treat. A trio of Boquerones (white Spanish anchovies), mellowed by a bright citrus marinade, is served atop baked planks of media noche bread. Mains deliver bold flavor with suckling pig served with a succotash of fresh peas and morel mushrooms, dressed with garlic cream. Crisp lamb belly comes accompanied by barbecued octopus, roasted eggplant and Romanesco sauce. The restaurant’s interior design, décor and ambiance reflects the concept’s sensibilities, with art work and an eclectic playlist rich with old school hip hop, classic and alternative rock. All artwork is original by local artist Claudio Picasso, including a haunting pastoral mural in the private dining room and impressionistic aerial views of the Miami skyline in the main dining room. MSC CRUISES TO SAIL YEAR ROUND FROM PORTMIAMI – MSC Cruises Divina, will now sail year round from PortMiami beginning November 2013. The unprecedented growth in the cruise industry spurred the line to respond to requests from the travel community and consumers alike. MSC Cruises record breaking growth in recent years is unmatched in the industry. The family owned, Italian cruise line began an investment program in 2003 committing 6 billion Euros to its expansion. Since then the line has acquired two vessels and built ten new ships resulting in one new vessel entering the fleet nearly every year. For the past eight years, the line has offered seasonal late fall and winter sailings from North America. The extension of MSC Divina’s scheduled seasonal sailings to year round sailings illustrates the company’s commitment to the North American market allowing guests to enjoy the Mediterranean way of life. This announcement will mark the first time MSC Divina has sailed from North America and the first time the line has sailed from PortMiami as well as the first time MSC has had a ship year-round in North America.
