TAM - AIRBUS launches the Space-Flex cabin option
With an order from TAM Linhas Aéreas, Airbus officially launched the PRM (Persons with Reduced Mobility) Space-Flex rest room as an option for operators of the A320 family. TAM will become the first AIRBUS customer to benefit from Space-Flex, the new option that offers more comfort to passengers.
The order from TAM is for Airbus to add Space-Flex in the 39 new aircraft to be delivered as of the 4th quarter of 2013. The concept makes more efficient use of the space at the rear of the cabin, two rest rooms plus a galley can be efficiently accommodated in this space, offering TAM the following advantages:
· By liberating the area, cabin space will be enlarged, providing more comfort for the passengers;
· The option offers two rest rooms, each of a size comparable with those existing in the A320s, in other words larger than the competitions’ toilets;
· The PRM offers progress through a simple process of conversion: two Space-Flex toilets can be converted into one space for persons of reduced mobility, in a similar way to those used in wide-body Airbus aircraft.
