Guides do make a difference in your trips!
Dear Alexey,
It\'s that time of the week again... time to take a quick break to enjoy a very short mail shot by On Site Malta. Did you know that we are more productive if we stop for 4 to 5 minutes every 90 minutes? Well, your 90 minutes have just passed by this second, so you might as well start your refuel time with this mail shot. Today we will be talking about how our in-house guide will make a big difference to your incentive trip. We will also meet a 25 year old young lady who is changing the Maltese gourmet scene (and how we are using her talent for our groups) and last but not least about how the Capital City of Malta has been named the European Capital of Culture for 2018. Enjoy reading!
Peter makes a difference!
Peter Donath
Meet Peter. Our full time in house guide. Born and raised in Belgium Peter has been living in Malta for the past 23 years. At OSM we understand that for an incentive trip to be 100% successful, you need to rely on a good guide among other things and Peter is definitely one of our greatest assets.
Well, Peter is not good... Peter is just great! What sets him apart from the rest is not just the ridiculous amount of languages that he speaks and not just the fact that he is extremely knowledgeable about everything (not just about Malta, but life in general – try engaging him in a conversation and you’ll see!).
What makes him so unique is that he is fun and able to connect with every single person in the group. For him, guiding is not solely about explaining the culture and history of places but also about the sharing of experiences, not to mention anecdotes!

The Pastizzi Gourmet Challenge - Activity
The first question which comes to mind is; What are Pastizzi? Pastizzi are a Maltese delicacy made up of diamond shaped filo pastry filled with either ricotta or a slightly spicy pea filling. That\'s all they are, a simple snack which for generations have been the favourite snack for the Maltese people.
Let us introduce to you Marilu Vella, a young lady who is re-inventing the art of Pastizzi making. She managed to transform the regular Pastizzi into a gourmet specialty filled with lots of different flavours (approximately 12 different ones). Her Lamb / Mint Pastizzi and my favourite peppered pumpkin Pastizzi are just mind blowing.
At OSM we recognise talent when we see it, so we have approached Marilu for an exclusive activity for our groups. She will set up anywhere on the island with her little table and a vintage stall. We offer different types of activities. If it\'s a group which doesn\'t want to have team-building activities, we can offer to do a Pastizzi tasting and also a Pastizzi making session with Marilu herself. For team-building requests, we can transform both sessions into a competition by giving points to the teams which can correctly guess the fillings of different Pastizzi and to those teams which can shape and bake the perfect pastizzi (judged by Marilu herself!).
Do you want to propose the Pastizzi Gourmet Challenge to one of your clients? Contact us and we will send you the rates pretty fast.
Valletta named European Capital of Culture 2018
Valletta was unanimously named European Capital of Culture (ECoC) for 2018, on Friday 12th October 2012.
The jury was convinced that Valletta had the will, motivation and the required ambition to receive this prestigious title, given to cities which are rich in heritage and have a great potential of cultural and socio-economic regeneration.
In preparation for this event, the OSM team are presently cooking up a new concept to celebrate Valletta 2018:
Valletta through a local’s eyes: Living, working, playing and exploring.
Living in the heart of Valletta for the duration of the trip and interacting with local residents going about their day to day business.
Working in a Valletta establishment for a few hours and performing typical errands including the mid-morning coffee breaks in the local band club!
Playing in the streets of Valletta and being entertained by the City’s cultural calendar of events.
Exploring Valletta through a local’s eyes, to appreciate the greatness of The City.
Contact us for more details about this new concept.
I come in peace...
