News • Memorials for the September 11 attacks • New York City • United States • 2012-11-05
Dear Friend,
Our thoughts remain with those who lost loved ones in Hurricane Sandy and the many who are still struggling in the wake of the storm\'s devastation. To learn more about what you can do to help those affected, please visit www.nyc.gov.
This city has always endured because of its spirit and our collective comeback from Sandy will be no different. As a step in that direction, I am grateful to let you know that the 9/11 Memorial will re-open tomorrow, November 6.
As recovery efforts continue, our temporary hours of operation will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the last entry time at 3:30 p.m. and we ask that you please be patient as the number of daily visitors we can accommodate will be limited.
Visitors should continue to enter the Memorial at the corner of Albany and Greenwich streets (1 Albany Street). Passes reserved in advance will be honored at the printed date and time. Previously reserved passes for dates and times affected by closures will also be honored during temporary operating hours. New passes will temporarily be unavailable online or at the 9/11 Memorial Preview Site. Visitors will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis at our entry.
The 9/11 Memorial Preview Site at 20 Vesey Street in lower Manhattan is also open with temporary hours of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The 9/11 Memorial Visitor Center at 90 West Street remains closed at this time.
In the Museum, the flood waters have been substantially removed and crews are working to dry out the site. Our conservation experts are providing guidance on the care of the artifacts that are currently installed in the Museum and closely monitoring their condition. We\'ll continue to keep you informed as we work towards full recovery.
Thank you for your continued support. The thoughts and prayers of everyone at the National 9/11 Memorial are with all of those who are suffering in Sandy\'s aftermath.
Warm regards,
Joe Daniels
President & CEO
