Oakland, Calif. - October 18, 2011 - Visit Oakland, Oakland\'s official destination marketing organization, has produced a brand new informational guide for visitors to the city. The new guide outlines the many different offerings in Oakland, including hotels, restaurants, attractions, neighborhoods, arts and entertainment. It will be a resourceful tool for both individual travelers and groups planning a trip to Oakland.
Visit Oakland chose to produce a smaller sized book that would be both easy for travelers to carry with them and that included more concise information. The intention was to create a very visual, graphic book as opposed to a more disposable magazine.
\"By creating a smaller book instead of the larger magazine-style, we hope that this guide will be something more tangible that visitors can keep for years,\" said Manette Belliveau, President and CEO of Visit Oakland.
Bob Ciano, the lead designer for the project, worked with the smaller size to create a dynamic, visual guide for Oakland. With his team, Bob produced a contemporary look that exemplifies Oakland\'s diversity and artistic culture.
\"For this style, I wanted to focus on bringing bold, bright colors together to make the content pop,\" said Ciano. \"We wanted to show off all the city has to offer through the design and photographs. It really has a vibrant look and feel.\"
Because Oakland is a historic city with modern flair, Visit Oakland wanted to convey this throughout the guide. You\'ll find both eccentric, bold photographs side by side with classic images of Oakland\'s historic properties. Working closely with the design team, the Visit Oakland staff developed all of the original content and listings for the guide.
A digital version of the guide can be found at www.visitoakland.org. To obtain a copy of the guide, contact the Visit Oakland office at info@visitoakland.org or (510) 839-9000.
