Las Cruces, N.M. -- The Southwest Environmental Center announced today that its gala fundraiser - the 15th annual On the River, For the River - will be held on Saturday, October 8th, from 5-10:30 p.m. at the beautiful Mesilla Valley Bosque State Park. The park, which the Southwest Environmental Center led the effort to establish, is located along the Rio Grande near the town of Mesilla.
Always a fun party, this year\'s On the River features a mouthwatering custom menu from Andele Restaurant. This special gourmet menu highlights Andele\'s diverse range and passion for food. Action stations will be placed around the park for your eating and viewing pleasure. There will be something for all palates and diets. Beverages will be provided by High Desert Brewing Co. and Rio Grande Winery.
Guests can dance under a nearly full moon to the music of Rhythm Mystic, C.W. Ayon, MexiKelly Blues and the Las Cruces High School Mariachi. Patrons will also have the opportunity to bid on many unique items in a silent auction, including airline tickets, lodging, jewelry, artwork, meals, and many more items. Cash, check, and credit cards will be accepted for payment of items that evening.
Parking is limited and guests are encouraged to carpool.
Sponsors for this year\'s event include Andele Restaurant, Las Cruces Toyota, NMSU Outdoor Center, Positive Energy Solar, Good Samaritan Society, Lilley Law Firm, Williams Design Group, Sleep Lab of Las Cruces, Beasley, Mitchell & Co, Amonix, El Paso Electric, and Tom and Donna Tate.
Tickets to the event are $50 in advance for SWEC members ($60 for non-members), and $55/$65 after October 6th. They can be purchased at the Southwest Environmental Center located at 275 N. Main, Las Cruces, or through its website www.wildmesquite.org. Tickets are also available at Enchanted Gardens Nursery on Avenida de Mesilla, and will be available at the door.
The Southwest Environmental Center is a Las Cruces-based nonprofit organization that works to protect and restore wildlife and their habitats in the Southwest. Proceeds from this event will go to support its efforts to ensure that the Rio Grande remains ecologically healthy for the benefit of wildlife and people.
