Khiri Travel Myanmar will give guests on upcountry trips in Myanmar free beer on each day that it rains for more than ten minutes during the day. This offer is valid from now until September 30 this year.

If it rains, each adult guest will be eligible for two chilled large (600ml) bottles of Mandalay beer on that day (or free-flow soft drinks). The offer applies to Bagan, Mandalay and Inle Lake -- not in Yangon or coastal beach resorts.

The promotion has been designed to boost demand for trips in Myanmar in the period when travel agent and consumer perception is that \'it rains\', and therefore is not a good period to come.

Will it rain free beer in Myanmar? Meteorological evidence shows that it remains relatively dry.

According to Weatherbase, in Bagan (Minbu) at the height of the rainy season there are only on average 10 days a month from July to September with any rain at all. In Mandalay in July and August there are only eight days with any rain at all -- and average temperatures are a comfortable 77 F (25 C).

In Inle Lake (Heho), visitors will have a better chance of a free beer as there are up to 16 days a month July-September that receive some rain. And average daily temperatures are a refreshing 70F (21 C)

\"Guests can fly direct from Bangkok to Mandalay on Bangkok Airways or Air Asia and start a mostly dry holiday in Myanmar,\" said Edwin Briels, General Manager of Khiri Myanmar. \"Hotel prices are favourable, the scenery is green, the sightseeing, culture and markets are all vibrant during the summer. It\'s a great time to come. Cheers!\"

Even if it stays dry and no free beer is served, Khiri Myanmar has a selection of \'stay three, pay two\' hotel offers for Inle Lake and Bagan. That leaves some Kyat on the table to pay for a couple of cold ones.

Mandalay Beer has been brewed in 80th Street, Mandalay since 1886 when the British converted an artillery factory into a brewery. For a quirky appreciation of Mandalay Beer visit this blog about beer labels (motto: Make Beer, Not War).

Note: the offer is valid for new bookings from 3 July 2013, for guests traveling between now and 30 September 2013. The promotion is only valid for Bagan, Mandalay and Inle Lake; rain has to fall for more than 10 consecutive minutes on each day between 6am and 6pm. Beer / soft-drinks to be provided in local restaurants on the day itself, and cannot be refunded in cash.
